A number of more costly, mostly larger luxury SUVs and crossovers posted February gains, as well. From the BMW X5s 42% jump to the Land Rover Range Rover Sports 25% ascent, theres reason to believe that luxury SUVs dont need to be small (or large) to expand their market share.
But the rate of expansion in the premium arena is most easily located in a look at entry-level crossovers, particularly when we consider the age of some of the entries. Mercedes-Benzs GLK and the Audi Q5 have been around since 2009 and the second-gen BMW X3 is now operating in its fifth model year.
You can click any model name in the tables below to find historical monthly and yearly U.S. auto sales data. You can also select a make and model at GCBCs Sales Stats page. These tables are now sortable, so you can rank luxury SUVs and crossovers any which way you like. Suggestions on how GCBC should break down segments can be passed on through the Contact page.

GCBC isnt here to break down segments, an impossible task for any group, but to display sales data for the sake of comparison. The more ways sales data can be displayed, the better. This explains youll see the XC70 listed with luxury cars as well as with SUVs and crossovers and the Touareg with luxury SUVs and mainstream SUVs... because readers have wanted it both ways. You can always find the sales results for EVERY vehicle and form your own competitive sets by using the All Vehicle Rankings posts.

° Escalade breakdown by variant
$50,000 CDN (before delivery) is an arbitrary borderline, but if GCBC was to follow this new system of designating only expensive vehicles as luxury vehicles, $50K seemed like a safe place to begin - it equals the average U.S. new car transaction price plus $15,000, plus another $5000 to account for Canadian increases. Plenty of less expensive vehicles with specific models feature prices above $50,000 - M, RS, and AMG models come to mind, specifically - but in the case of this list, we know that none of the registrations were of cars priced at $35,900, as would be the case with the BMW 320i, which costs less than a Hyundai Santa Fe 2.0T Limited. The biggest problem with a $50,000 minimum price of entry? Cars like the Cadillac XTS, which starts at $49,440, sporty cars like the $49,500 Audi TT, and SUVs like the $49,990 Acura MDX. Volkswagen recently increased the base Touaregs price to $50,975; GM jacked up the base Yukon price up to $51,090.
The new Cadillac CTS sedans base price is above $50,000, but not the base price for other cars in the CTS lineup. Yet. Total CTS sales in September:
Total Infiniti G/Q50/Q60 volume: 276 in September; 2853 YTD.

(The 6-Series is included in this post because of its price and its sedan emphasis. Mercedes-Benz CLS sales are not reported in Canada, and we therefore dont bother including the Audi A7 in this space, leaving it with its A6 platform-sharing partner in the midsize luxury post.)
Regardless, it says something about the S-Class that even with a 51% year-over-year decline, it still sold more often than the A8, 7-Series, LS, and Panamera combined.
You can click any model name in the tables below to find historical monthly and yearly Canadian auto sales data. You can also select a make and model at GCBCs Sales Stats page. This table is sortable, so you can rank large luxury cars any which way you like. Suggestions on how GCBC should break down segments can be passed on through the Contact page.

GCBC isnt here to break down segments, an impossible task for any group, but to display sales data for the sake of comparison. You can always find the sales results for EVERY vehicle and form your own competitive sets by using the All Vehicle Rankings posts. Sales data for brands such as Aston Martin, Bentley, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Lotus, Rolls-Royce etc. are unfortunately not made available in Canada. Tesla doesnt release a monthly Model S sales report, either. ANDC estimates for Bentley, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Rolls-Royce were 7, 18, 10, and 9, respectively, in January 2015. Tesla sold 123 cars in December. Total Maserati volume is reported, but not by specific models. GCBC shows the Cadillac XTS, Hyundai Equus, and Kia K900 with midsize luxury cars not because of their size, but because the price points are much more directly comparable.
