Large Car Sales In Canada January 2015

2016 Toyota Avalon

Increases were reported across a broad cross-section of the category, from the two GM nameplates to the four "import" nameplates, as well.

The Dodge Charger, though down 14%, led the class with 213 sales. Its sibling, the Chrysler 300, helped FCA earn 41% of the categorys sales.

But the overall numbers are nevertheless staggeringly low. These nine cars generated less than 1% of all new vehicle sales activity in January. Combined, they sold less often than the Honda Fit.

For MY2016, the Toyota Avalon is receiving a slight rejig. That wont change the fact that Canadians dont want Avalons, nor do they want to drive big, non-premium-brand cars at all.

You can click any model name in the tables below to find historical monthly and yearly Canada auto sales data. You can also select a make and model at GCBCs Sales Stats page. These tables are now sortable, so you can rank large cars any which way you like. Suggestions on how GCBC should break down segments can be passed on through the Contact page.

* Genesis refers only to the sedan, not the coupe. For Canadian purposes - Hyundai USA doesnt yet breakdown sales figures for the sedan and much less costly coupe - the Genesis will now be shown with both these volume brands, with which Hyundai is a direct competitor, and midsize luxury cars, with which the Genesis competes.
GCBC isnt here to break down segments, an impossible task for any group, but to display sales data for the sake of comparison. The more ways sales data can be displayed, the better. You can always find the sales results for EVERY vehicle and form your own competitive sets by using the All Vehicle Rankings posts.
